With a white glue interface I firstly coated the top and bottom of the chipboard with a beech veneer and put in under a press. I then removed the excess using a wood chisel before once again applying a white glue and ironing on the beech veneer edges and trimming with a scalpel.

So here I have just fitted up the glass work with the base. Next steps will be to finish the base, to finish solder the glass work edges, to insert the electrical elements and to fix the glass to the base.
It’s starting to come together, remaining question is should I cut out the small cracked area and insert a small glass frame.
